Loss of snowpack firmness due to rain
Avalanche danger above 1400 m is MODERATE, below that altitude danger is LOW. On extremely steep (>40°) slopes esp. below 1600 m, naturally triggered avalanches can release in isolated cases, most are wet loose-snow or glide-snow releases. At high altitudes isolated danger zones due to fresh snowdrifts on N/NW facing slopes and in gullies.
Snowpack Structure
The most recent snowfall (10 cm) has settled, is bonding well with the base except at high altitudes. Thin drifts at high altitudes. Daytime warming and solar radiation will make the snow forfeit firmness.
Weather Synopsis
Lots of clouds, some sunshine, clouds (most in Tauern) will disperse over the day. At high altitudes in the Tauern, southerly foehn wind at 40-60 km/h. At 2000 m: rising from 0 to 4 degrees.
Tendency
On Saturday, sunny, still warmer, less wind. Moistening of the snowpack on shady slopes will come to the foreground. Naturally triggered avalanches (loose, some slabs) in high alpine starting zones on sunny slopes.
