In gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain slab avalanches are possible, but they can be quite large. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches as before. Avalanches can also be released in near-ground layers. The avalanche prone locations are difficult to recognise. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist avalanches are possible below approximately 2500 m. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes.
Artificially triggered avalanches and reports filed by observers confirm the existence of a weak snowack. Precarious weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The soft wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. As a consequence of rising temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. This applies in particular on sunny slopes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on steep sunny slopes.
