Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will continue to be deposited in wind sheltered locations. Areas most affected will be steep North-West through North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Newly formed cornices will be fragile. The older snowpack will remain well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Scattered showers will fall as snow above around 800 metres until mid morning and above around 1000 metres later in the day. Fresh South-South-Easterly winds overnight becoming moderate South-South-Westerly during the day. The freezing level will rise to around 1100 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers were heavy overnight and became lighter and less frequent during the day. The freezing level fell to around 900m by dawn and rose to around 1100m by the end of the day. Winds were strong South-South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh unstable windslab is continuing to be deposited in steep wind sheltered areas with North-West through North to East aspects above 1000 metres most affected. Accumulations gaining depth are generally localised. New fragile cornices are building above these aspects. The older snowpack is well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
