Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will persist, mainly in steep, wind sheltered locations on West to North aspects above 900 metres. Isolated areas of windslab will also be present on South-West and North-East locations. Elsewhere there will be a shallow covering of wet snow on most aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will lift to around the highest summits for all of this forecasted period. Likely to be a cloudy day but there will be no significant precipitation. Winds will be moderate to fresh, initially East-North-East, backing to the North-West by afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing level has been around 920 metres all day. Despite extensive hill cloud there was little new precipitation. Winds were light, South to South-West. ObservedSnowStability: Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab are to be found above 800 metres in wind-sheltered locations, mainly on West to North aspects with isolated deposits also on South-West and North-East aspects. Greatest hazard is where accumulations have depth and developed over old snow-ice. Elsewhere there is a general thin covering of snow on most aspects from 600 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
