Early morning: In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. In particular very steep sunny slopes and base of rock walls: Medium-sized wet and gliding avalanches are to be expected below approximately 2700 m. They can penetrate even deep layers. This applies in particular on very steep grassy slopes. In their paths avalanches can entrain the wet snow. Backcountry tours should be concluded early. In addition the wind slabs of recent weeks in particular above the tree line are prone to triggering in isolated cases still. They are easy to recognise and can be released by large loads in particular, caution is to be exercised in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. Weak layers exist in the centre of the snowpack. In particular here the avalanches can be released in the old snow and reach quite a large size.
Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust. The spring-like weather conditions will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on steep sunny slopes below approximately 2700 m. The weather conditions fostered a stabilisation of the snow drift accumulations in particular on sunny slopes. In its middle, the snowpack is unfavourably layered. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. There are large frames on the crest. Numerous medium-sized to large moist and wet avalanches have been released in the last few days.
As the temperature drops only isolated moist and wet avalanches are to be expected.
