Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be favourable over a wide area. The wind will be strong. The weather will be very mild. The weather conditions will give rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the snowpack in all altitude zones. As a consequence of high temperatures and the strong foehn wind, a sometimes unfavourable avalanche situation will develop. In addition the soft wind slabs of the last few days adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at high altitudes are capable of being triggered in isolated cases still.

Avalanche Activity

Moist and wet avalanches and ground avalanches are possible.

As a consequence of warming small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible above approximately 1800 m. The older wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. Mostly the avalanches in these loacations are rather small. In addition ground avalanches are possible.
