Thus far the wind has been moderate to strong in the vicinity of peaks over a wide area. The fresh wind slabs are to be found in particular above approximately 2000 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in west to north to east facing aspects and in the vicinity of peaks. Hard wind slabs can only be released in isolated cases.

As a consequence of the moderate to strong wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed. The various wind slabs have bonded generally well with each other and the old snowpack. Hard wind slabs are in many cases shallow but to be assessed with care and prudence.
