Avalanche Activity

Until the temperature falls small and medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones.

Until the temperature falls small and medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones. The avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads here.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be generally well bonded. As a consequence of mild temperatures and very cloudy skies a sometimes precarious avalanche situation developed during the last two days. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes. Until the temperature falls small and medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones.

Tendency

Gradual decrease in danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides as the temperature drops.
