Kernpunkte

Avalanches large enough to bury or injure a rider will remain unlikely on Monday.  Small wind slab avalanches may exist at alpine elevations on east slopes.  Assess the depth and stability of wind blown snow on smaller or less steep slopes before moving to more consequential terrain.

Small pockets of unstable snow may exist at the highest elevations.  These shallow Wind Slabs are most likely on east slopes below ridgelines.  I don't expect these avalanches to be large enough to bury or injure a rider, but they could knock a rider off their feet, which can be problematic in steep terrain.  Use more conservative slopes to assess how much snow has blown in to these lee slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

Warm weather, and less than frozen precipitation have not led to the nicest riding conditions.  I was pleased and surprised to see snow falling from the sky as low as 6,800 ft. on Sunday afternoon, and there was 1 cm of new snow by the time I was heading home.  Hopefully a little more snow overnight will improve conditions a bit!
