At the high elevations today, pockets of soft slab to eighteen inch depths remain susceptible to human triggering in very steep avalanche terrain. At mid elevations, similar isolated pockets could be triggered in steep wind loaded areas and avalanches are unlikely at the low elevations today.

Consistent light snowfall is expected through the day on Saturday. Southwest winds are expected to increase to averages near thirty miles per hour in the afternoon. Temperatures are to be warmer with highs in the mountain near twenty degrees. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate. Skiers and riders will have the potential to trigger recently formed soft slabs to eighteen inch depths in steep wind loaded terrain. New snow and strong winds in the afternoon may also form new shallow surface slabs in very steep terrain. At high elevations near cliffs or where the snowpack is shallow, the potential continues for large loads to trigger deeper hard slabs near the base of the snowpack. These deeper instabilities are most prevalent in the Togwotee Pass area and the Southwest Trails area.
