Kernpunkte

The snowpack is mostly stable. The potential for avalanche activity is limited to rare isolated areas at the mid and upper elevations where a very slight chance persists to trigger hard slabs that lie upon old crusts in very steep, untracked terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Periods of snowfall are to continue tonight through Saturday and into Sunday. Snowfall could be moderate to heavy at times with two to four inches possible for each twelve hour period. Highs at ten thousand feet are to again be in the teens while northwest winds continue to blow with ten to twenty five mile per hour averages. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Saturday morning and could increase to Moderate in the afternoon depending on the amount and the timing of additional snowfall. New surface slabs are expected to slowly form over a mostly stable snowpack that was topped with a variety of hard crusts, wind packed snow and dense settled powder.
