Kernpunkte

Although unlikely, small wet snow avalanches are something to keep in mind if you are travelling in the low and mid elevations. If you observe the snow to be wet and slushy to boot top depth or more, consider moving to lower angle terrain.

I do not expect enough rain to bring on a wet loose avalanche cycle, but it is still something to keep in mind.  Watch for rollerballs and pinwheels as precursors to wet loose avalanches happening. Most wet loose avalanches will be small, but remember even small avalanches in steep terrain can cause you to loose your stance.

The low elevations around Santiam Pass will get the most rain and highest temperatures. This area also has a very minimial snowpack.

Avalanche Discussion

In the high alpine terrain, there may be isolated shallow wind slabs building. I do not expect it to be much of a problem, but as always take the time to recognize changing conditions. If you observe deep wind drifts, look for alternate routes or move to lower angle terrain.
