4-8 inches of new snow will fall throughout today (Friday) and land on a variety of surfaces, including wet snow, dry snow, and crusts. As you gain elevation, snow totals will increase, and slabs will thicken on the leeward sides of ridgelines in wind-loaded terrain.
Cracking around your skis or machine indicates you have found an unstable slab.
Use terrain as your map through the mountains today. Steer around steep(greater than 30 degrees) convex rollovers. Sidehill travel may be difficult due to a hard supportable crust. Dry snow sliding on a slick crust can move fast and travel further downhill than expected.
New daytime snowfall, laid ontop of a crust will be possible to trigger on steep convex rollovers today.
