Kernpunkte

It will still be possible to trigger an avalanche in wind loaded terrain at treeline or in Alpine terrain.  With no major changes in the weather there should not be a marked change in the avalanche conditions from today (Saturday), although there is a trend towards lower danger as instabilities from last week's storms continue to receed.

    Very small amounts of snow in the forecast for tomorrow morning aren't likely to have much effect on the overall avalanche danger.  Any new slabs will be thin.  The greater concern are Wind Slabs that may have been built out of older snow during Saturday or overnight.  There have been lots of folks skiing at many of our more popular spots, I always look to see if the tracks I saw yesterday or the day before have been blown in as evidence of whether or not there was much wind transported snow (sorry, doesn't work if you haven't been out recently or are exploring farther afield).

Avalanche Discussion

Last week's snow is continuing to settle and round.  Today, there were reports of a few D1 avalanches, all skier triggered.  Wind slabs will continue to be a problem as long as there is soft snow to blow around up high.  We don't have any concerning persistent weak layers in our snowpack.
