Wind slab

The fresh wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence. As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase quickly.

More recent wind slabs have formed especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. This applies in particular above approximately 2300 m. Wind slabs can as before be released by a single winter sport participant. As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase quickly in all aspects at intermediate and high altitudes. At lower altitudes a little snow is lying. A mostly favourable avalanche situation will be encountered over a wide area.
Some fresh snow and the sometimes deep wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack. The spring-like weather conditions will give rise to rapid softening of the snowpack.
Significant decrease in danger of moist and wet avalanches as the temperature drops.
