Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of moderately bonded snow will persist in steeper, wind sheltered locations on all aspects above 800 metres. Deepest accumulations will be found on South-East and South aspects where small wind features will be encountered. Redistribution will occur as the wind speed increases and shallow windslab accumulations will form on West to North aspects above 800 metres. Accumulation rate will increase with the onset of fresh snowfall. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A mainly dry but cloudy day with some light snowfall arriving by mid-afternoon. The winds will back overnight to become South-Easterly during the day. Wind speed will steadily increase to become strong by the end of the period. The freezing level will fluctuate between 450 and 600 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with variable low cloud and moderate South-South-Westerly winds. Air temperature was -3.5 degrees Centigrade at 950 metres at midday. ObservedSnowStability: There is snow cover above glen level. Deposits continue to slowly consolidate with areas of moderately bonded snow present on all aspects above 800 metres. These accumulations are mostly to be found in steeper, wind sheltered locations. South-East and South aspects hold deepest accumulations with small wind features present. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
