Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger. The wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in all aspects.

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind from northerly directions, wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as above the tree line. On steep slopes and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized slab avalanches are possible as a consequence of new snow and wind. In addition small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. In addition wind slabs formed in all aspects. Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas.
