Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining snowpack will continue to consolidate with good stability. Largest areas of continuous snow will be on North to East aspects above 850 metres. There will be a light dusting of wet snow overnight on the highest summits though amounts will not be significant. Through the day, the snow surface will begin to refreeze above around 800 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Dry this evening with a period of overnight rain and wet snow on the highest summits. Dryer through the day with the freezing level dropping to around 800 metres. Very strong South-Westerly winds veer to the West by morning, easing slightly. Observed Weather Influences: Mainly dry with low cloud and some light drizzle. Light South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snowpack continues to consolidate with good stability. The largest continuous areas are on North to East aspects above 850 metres. The generally moist and softening snow surface remains slightly firmer at higher elevations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
