Kernpunkte

Soft slabs, one to three in depth, could be triggered by backcountry travelers venturing onto steep, wind-loaded starting zones at the mid and upper elevations. Mostly stable snow exists at the lower elevations and avalanches are unlikely.

Avalanche Discussion

Weak high pressure will build over Western Wyoming Monday night providing mostly dry conditions until a strong westerly flow brings clouds by Tuesday afternoon. After overnight lows near zero, temperatures will rise to twenty degrees at 10,000 feet. The westerly flow will bring light snow to the mountains Tuesday afternoon or evening. Winds will be westerly 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE on Tuesday above 7,500 feet. Soft slabs to three feet in depth could be triggered by backcountry travelers venturing into steep, avalanche-prone terrain. Below 7,500 feet, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW as avalanches are unlikely.
