Kernpunkte

A mostly stable snowpack comprised of faceted snow and a variety of crusts exist at the mid and upper elevations. Successive clear nights have promoted the widespread growth of surface hoar. Avalanches are unlikely, however caution is advised in cliff areas and in steep couloirs.

Avalanche Discussion

A cold front moving south from Idaho and Montana will increase cloud cover, decrease temperatures and bring a chance of light accumulations to the area. Expect overnight lows in the mountains near 20 before rising to 30 on Thanksgiving Day. Lows will be slightly cooler in the valley before climbing into the upper 30s during the afternoon. Ridgetop winds will be variable as the cold front passes at 5 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain LOW. Avalanches are unlikely. However, caution is advised in cliff areas and steep couloirs.
