Dangerous unstable hard slabs exist on a variety of aspects at the upper elevations and on steep shaded aspects at the mid elevations. These slabs are two to four feet deep and lie upon a weak base of faceted snow. They could be human triggered by the first skier or snow machine to cross a steep slope or by a skier or snow machine on a steep slope with multiple tracks. Conservative decisions regarding terrain selection are warranted.

A flat ridge of high pressure is to lessen the chance for light snow and allow skies to be slightly clearer on Friday. Mountain temperatures are to reach the mid twenties and winds are to be light. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet) of the Teton area and MODERATE at the mid elevations of the Teton area and above an elevation of 8,000 feet in the Greys River/ Southwest Trails and Togwotee Pass/ Continental Divide Trails area. In these areas, backcountry riders and skiers could easily trigger surface slabs to four feet in depth in steep terrain where old weak snow surfaces persist.
