Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Surface slabs up to two feet in depth exist in avalanche prone terrain. These slabs will be particularly sensitive on steep rocky slopes and near cliff areas. These slabs could be triggered by snowmachiners and skiers and not necessarily by the first rider on the slope. Once triggered these slabs have the potential to pull out deeper layers of faceted snow.
