Kernpunkte

Southwesterly ridgetop winds increased to 20 to 30 miles per hour overnight and likely transported available snow onto leeward slopes at the higher elevations. Up there, skiers and riders venturing into very steep, wind loaded terrain might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of shallow soft slab. Be wary of recent deposits of windblown snow, especially if upside down conditions are found. Remember, even small slides can lead to serious injuries if backcountry travelers are swept into terrain with minimal coverage.

Northwesterly ridgetop winds will veer to the north at 10 to 20 miles per hour. The early season snowpack is mostly stable, and the general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Sunday. At the higher elevations, skiers and riders venturing into very steep, wind loaded terrain might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of shallow soft slab. Below 8,500 feet, snow depths quickly diminish along with the possibility of avalanche activity.
