Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will generally have good stability throughout. Accumulations of fresh snow will develop above 850 meters on steep North-West to North-East aspects. However, these deposits are expected to be isolated and easily avoidable. There will be a thaw at lower elevations. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Gale to storm force Southerly winds overnight will moderate during the morning and then strengthen to gale force by the evening. There will be small amounts of snow above 850 meters during the morning. The freezing level will be above the summits initially, then lower to 850 meters before rising slowly to above the summits by the end of the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: A mostly dry day with pulses of light rain and drizzle in the afternoon. Winds were light to moderate from the South-South-West. The freezing level was above the summits for most of the day. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is thawing at all levels and is generally well bonded and stable throughout. Pre-existing accumulations of windslab have continued to consolidate and are mostly found on steep North-East through East to South East aspects above 700 meters. The avalanche hazard is Low.
